The St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Seward, Alaska Stained Glasss Window Project

From: Faith Rose Date: Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 7:32 PM Subject: St. Peter's Window Installation Dear Morgan, I'm attaching photos of the stained glass window I created based on, and inspired by, your original design. Translating your composition into glass took over a year of effort and the help of so many friends and fellow glass artists up here in Alaska. Everyone donated their time and the St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Seward raised funds to order the clear, thermal pane unit that was required to protect the copper-foil window I created from the elements, and to ensure the church building (which is more than a century old) stays insulated from the cold. It was 7 degrees above zero when we drove through the Turnagain Pass last night on our way to Seward to install the window! Tomorrow we will dedicate the window to the Glory of God and St. Peter's in honor of the faith and courage of my sister Eileen Rose McAllister. My sister suffered a long term debilitating illness this last year that robbed her of the ability to feel any joy in life. I sent her photos of the window in progress and encouraged her to put her faith in Christ and to imagine herself being lifted up from the overwhelming darkness by the strong arms of Jesus Christ, Savior, and into His warm embrace. Eileen clung to that image all through her treatment and she came through! This last week she traveled to Utah and held her new-born granddaughter and was able to experience the full joy and glory of that moment. She wrote me that the beautiful window inspired by your composition, helped her to keep her attention fixed on Jesus through the dark and storm -- into the light of His Love and Healing! At the service tomorrow I will certainly tell the congregation the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe you for giving your gracious permission to use your composition for this work.
