| Painting human beings is challenging. A portrait is so much more than a good likeness - the artist must strive to capture the unique beingness of the subject. One of the greatest compliments I ever received from the subject of a portrait when he viewed the completed work was: "It's me! Only better!!!" I replied: "I painted the light I see shining in you!" We all carry an inner light - and that is what I seek to capture in each of my portraits.
